I grew up in the small towns of Juneau, and Douglas, Alaska, which had large commercial fishing fleets. My Grampa fished the waters of SE Alaska for over 50 years, as a troller and a gillnetter, and he'd toss a crabpot over the side now and then. Some of the kids in my family went out fishing with Gramps during the summer, and it was a learning experience and sometimes fun.
When things went wrong, or equipment broke down, one had to make do and rig up whatever fix they could manage. Spending a couple summers on a fishing boat taught me many things; including how to improvise, make the best of a bad situation, and give it all ya got when things get rough.
The Bible has a story or two about how Jesus used a net to fish, and fed many, etc.
Jesus was a Gillnetter, and so was I. Now, I use some of the things I learned all those hours on the boat, to cast a net or a hook, and see what bites. So to speak...
A friend of Gail's encouraged me to use the online site of Plenty of Fish while I was in Charlotte, as he thought I might enjoy CLT more if I got out and about with a male friend. I'd used the service before, but only for a short while as a window shopping experience.
There's an old saying about: "What you're looking at might not be looking back." It's true, but most of us don't take it personally.
I put up a profile, and let reels zing! I knew I was moving to Phoenix, and when the moniker of "desetphxrat" appeared in my inbox, I recognized it as a name I'd mentioned in that infamous "girl's night out" interrogation/interview from June of 2007.
My Biology and Psych Majors, your attention please. Tell me what you read between the lines in these exchanges between Vick and I. (click on the lower right corner magnifying glass to enlarge each screenshot) Hopefully, I have them in order, but you'll get the picture, as it were. It's another technique of the Elves, using all "Tools" in their box, and mailboxes. Gander/Goose, Tit/Tat, etc.
My profile from Plenty of Fish (POF.com) will be highlighted directly below the exchanges between him and me. And I'll be removing my profile, as I know what works for the dragging of the net, and a good catch usually has some bycatch.
I tried to load these screen shots in order, but they keep messing up. There are date and time stamps, for those who want to follow the CONversations in order.
